Eden/Merimbula To Mallacoota Koalas, Kangaroos and Lyrebirds Tour

  • Mallacoota
  • 7.5 Hours

Overview

Discover one of Australia’s most enchanting wildlife experiences on this immersive full‑day journey from Eden to Mallacoota, where ancient forests, coastal wilderness, and rich biodiversity come together to create the perfect setting for unforgettable encounters with iconic native animals. This tour is designed for travellers who want more than a quick photo stop — it’s a deep, guided exploration of the habitats, behaviours, and stories behind three of Australia’s most remarkable species: koalas, kangaroos, and the extraordinary lyrebird.

Your adventure begins as you travel through the serene landscapes of East Gippsland, an area renowned for its pristine bushland and thriving wildlife populations. With an expert local guide leading the way, you’ll step into eucalyptus forests where wild koalas rest high in the canopy, venture across open grasslands where kangaroos graze and bound freely, and wander through cool temperate rainforests alive with the calls of the superb lyrebird — a master mimic capable of imitating everything from other birds to natural and human-made sounds.

Along the way, you’ll gain insights into the region’s ecology, conservation efforts, and the delicate balance that sustains these unique species. Your guide will share stories of resilience following the Black Summer bushfires, highlight regeneration across the landscape, and point out lesser‑known flora and fauna that make this corner of Australia so special.

Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, photographer, nature lover, or simply seeking a meaningful connection with Australia’s natural world, this tour offers a rare opportunity to witness iconic animals in their natural environment. With small group sizes, personalised interpretation, and breathtaking scenery throughout the day, this is an experience that leaves you with a deeper appreciation for the wild heart of southeastern Australia.
