Overview

Discover the Ancient Heart of Australia’s Top End with AAT Kings

Few destinations on earth match the raw, untouched grandeur of Australia’s Northern Territory — and the Northern Territory Top End National Parks Small Group Tour by AAT Kings is your ultimate gateway to experiencing it all. This carefully crafted 6-day small group journey takes you deep into two of the continent’s most iconic wilderness areas, Kakadu and Nitmiluk National Parks, with their ancient landscapes of billabongs, gorges and hidden canyons teeming with spectacular wildlife.

From the moment you arrive in Darwin, every day unfolds as a new chapter of discovery. Touch down in Darwin and immerse yourself in the essence of Australia’s Northern Territory at Aboriginal Bush Traders, where your taste buds will be tantalised with native flavours before you explore Indigenous art. As you venture further into the wilderness, glide through pristine wetlands on the Corroboree Billabong Wetland Cruise, spotting saltwater crocodiles and an extraordinary array of birdlife that call this ancient floodplain home.

What truly sets this tour apart is the depth of cultural connection it offers. Admire rock art and hear stories of the Dreamtime, and embark on a journey to the haunt of the Lightning Man, Aboriginal clans, and the crocodiles that roam Kakadu’s floodplains. Expert Aboriginal guides bring these landscapes to life in ways no guidebook ever could, offering rare and authentic insights into one of the world’s oldest living cultures.

Travelling in a small group truly brings people closer together — and AAT Kings has built this tour around that philosophy. With an average of just 16 guests, there’s ample opportunity to ask questions and make meaningful connections on every visit. You’re not just ticking off landmarks; you’re forging a genuine bond with the land, the culture, and your fellow travellers.

The adventure reaches its crescendo in Nitmiluk National Park, where a sunset dinner cruise along the dramatic Katherine Gorge reveals towering sandstone cliffs carved over millennia. After a day filled with blissful moments and unforgettable experiences, retire to the sanctuary of Cicada Lodge, where the comforts of home await amidst the rugged beauty of Nitmiluk National Park.

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a first-time explorer of the Outback, this is the small group tour that will redefine how you see Australia. Book your Northern Territory Top End National Parks experience with AAT Kings today — the ancient wilderness is waiting.
